Internationally, the Moon, or the Crescent - to be specific - is recognized as the symbol for
Islam. Many, if not most, mosques around the world, have a crescent on a minaret; it is the same in
Hadhramout. In Hadhramaut, at nights, the minarets are lighted green - another symbol for Islam. Over Hadhramout, now, is a full moon. Shining. Brilliantly. And yet cool and soothing. Much has been said about the moon. Here are a few quotes about this magnificent celestial body:

Shine, the Moon does. Happy, it makes one who gazes at it. It is one of the most delightful sights to behold. It is always there and it doesn't change its course. Silently, blissfully it is there, every month; to remind us of the Power and the Efficiency of the Creator. That's the Moon. As for the Earth, I agree with
George Bernard Shaw - the Earth, is indeed a lunatic asylum. If it isn't a loony abode: how come, we, who inhabit it have made it and turned it into such a mess? We, Mankind, are always mischievous and shortsighted; mercilessly and greedily destroying our environment; fighting and slaughtering each other; cruelly exterminating other life forms.......Thankfully, the Moon
has no men on it. Uninhabited it is. And shine, it will always do. And cool and calming it will always be.
