Hadhramout - Day Fifteen Of Ramadan |
Yesterday, like in most of the Muslim world, was the fifteenth day of Ramadan in
Hadhramout. About fifteen more days to go before we celebrate Eid. With sunrise and sunset times changing,
prayer times are changing too. Most of last night, the moon, rising from the East, was large, grand and brilliant - above. With the last days of Ramadhan now, on, the mosques are getting fuller and people are spending longer in prayers. Some people spend the whole night meditating and praying.

And in
Mukalla, through out the nights, now - the streets, souks, the shops, the malls - are also full, after
Taraweeh prayers. At times, the streets are so full, that it is almost impossible to move; and the shops are so packed that it is almost impossible to get in them. At times, it looks more like frenzied shopping. In Hadhramaut, like in all the Muslim world and wherever Muslims are - the month of
Ramadhan, is the most expensive and the most festive. All Muslims hope for, is that our fasting and prayers have been proper and accepted by the Creator.
