Hadhramout Day Eight Of Ramadhan |
Ramadhan is moving fast. It is already the eighth day of fasting. Some parts of
Wadi Hadhramaut and
the Highlands have had some rain and it is still raining in several areas. The clouds have cleared this evening and the moon is much clearer here now after sunset, in most parts of
Hadhramout, than it has ever been in the last few days; but with showers and the rain continuing, the clouds might build up again. We now have a half-moon, shining above. There is some thing about the moon that is spiritual. Very peaceful. Very serene. Watching it is most tranquilizing. As tranquilizing as fasting itself. Phases of the moon are all a part of the holiest month for all Muslims: Ramadhan.

Moon Over Hadhramaut - Day Eight Of Ramadhan |
For over one-and-a-half billion Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a time not only for not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset, it is much more than that. It is a time for intensive devotion to God and spiritual elevation. It is a time for making up with your spouse and being kind, caring and considerate to her/him and keeping it that way, even after Ramadhan. It is a time for being much more closer and caring to the family, to parents in particular. It is a time for being the best neighbor and continuing that way even after Ramadhan. It is a time for realizing that we Muslims have to do much more in taking care of, and be more responsible for - our environment, our Planet and all creatures in it as ordained by God. It is a time for total self control and for cleansing the mind and the body. It is time for forgiveness and
tawbah (repentance). It is a time that a Muslim should be most exemplary and disciplined. It is time for the
Noble Qur'an and being much more compatible to
the Sunnah.
