Socotra's Amazing Sea and Beaches
Soqotra |
The scenery is most breathtaking, mesmerizing and tranquil.
And the beaches are most pristine, clean and incredibly empty of people.
Stretches a stretches of pure, white beaches.
I can not think of any other such spotless, magnificent beach that is so very comfortingly empty of people.
Beaches that are surrounded with astonishingly very clear blue-green waters.
And such refreshing waters?
The view from up is even more impressive.
The Arabian Sea, far beyond: so beautiful and tantalizing.
Trees and the magnificent Arabian Sea.
Pools and ponds not far from the sea. Some quotes come to mind.......
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." ~ Jacques Cousteau
“I am you; you are ME. You are the waves; I am the ocean. Know this and be free, be divine.” ~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba
“Roll on, deep and dark blue ocean, roll. Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain. Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore.” ~ Lord Byron
"Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think." ~ Robert Henri
"Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"The cure for anything is salt water -- sweat, tears, or the sea." ~ Isak Dinesen
Socotra is an island of caves. From these caves, you can still view the majestic, dazzling sea beyond. At only about 132 kilometres (82 miles) long and about 50 kilometres (30 miles) wide - wherever one is on this most exotic of islands, the Sea and beaches are not far.
