The worst form of Blindness
Of all the disabilities, none has the dignity and is so moving like
blindness; it exhorts our deepest compassion and feelings. Just do this:
close your eyes completely and cover them with some thing, and imagine
living every moment, every day, forever - like that. A very difficult
situation indeed. The darkness; the not seeing any light at all; and
being so helpless like that, and knowing that it will be so always - is
the most difficult thing I can imagine happening to me or any one else.
Still, blindness has the kind of calmness and stillness that is almost impossible to achieve in any other situation; blindness too, commands a kind of awe and regards, that is very rarely given to other forms of disabilities and suffering. Many blind people in history have been known for their great wisdom and achievements; some in recent times and some, even today. Some of their achievements are, or have been considered, super human.
Blind in our treatment of Children; blind of our treatment of our spouses and of our treatment of our families; blind in our not being good neighbors to our neighbors; blind in the way we ignore the feelings of our fellow mankind; blind in the way we treat our other fellow creatures; and blind in the way we have taken care of our environment. We do not see.
For, a person who really sees is an enlightened person who, not only has feelings, respect and considerations for all beings and creatures around him but; for the place and space where he moves and lives in. It is only such a person who truly sees and has light.

- There is a condition worse than blindness, and that is, seeing something that isn't there.~ Thomas Hardy
- Every step and every movement of the multitude, even in what are termed enlightened ages, are made with equal blindness to the future; and nations stumble upon establishments, which are indeed the result of human action, but not the execution of any human design. ~ Adam Ferguson
- Now as of old the gods give men all good things, excepting only those that are baneful and injurious and useless. These, now as of old, are not gifts of the gods: men stumble into them themselves because of their own blindness and folly. ~ Democitus
