Cry Somalia!

How long will the International community allow Somalia to suffer and bleed this much? What is so heart wrenching about the situation in Somalia is that: it's mainly women, children, the old and the weak, who are bearing the most burden and paying the most price. How long will the International community let women be raped, children to be orphaned and so much suffering continue in Somalia?

Yemen's Disappearing Wildlife

With the population increasing at one of the fastest rates in the world and high ways now extending to most corners of Yemen, the country is fast losing its wildlife. Yemen used to be rich in wildlife. A few years ago, one could easily spot wild animals like baboons, foxes, gazelles and even hyenas, but now - that's no more; birds and sea turtles too, are becoming rarer. It's reported that wildlife is disappearing in the Arabian region faster than any where else in the world.

Does the World truly care about Somalis?

While the World's international news gave wide and wall to wall coverage to the hijacked ship Maersk Alabama and the rescue of its captain Richard Phillips - very little press coverage has been given to the drowning and missing at sea of several Somalis just a few days ago.

Hadhramout : حضرموت

In Arabic it's spelt حضرموت. And only that. And pronounced Ḥaḍramawt or Hä′dhrä môt′. But spelt in Latin letters, حضرموت has many spelling variations. It is spelt: Hadhramout or Hadhramaut or Hadhramawt or Hadramout or Hadramaut or Hadramawt; some even spell it as Hadhramot or Hadramot. In the Bible, it's called Hazarmaveth. The people of Hadhramout are referred to as Hadhramis or Hadharim. On this site, I use Hadhramout as I find that spelling most close to the Arabic pronunciation.

The Menu

Has the G20 achieved much after their meeting in Britain? Considering that over 50% of the world's population live on less than a Euro a day,World leaders attending the meeting, had an excellent meal which featured the best of seasonal produce from around the UK. But the main and 'real menu', was how they would try to come up with real, responsible and bold ideas which would fix, mostly their own but also the rest of the world's - economy. They didn't do much about tax havens, which is very comforting for the rich and the likes of Bernard Madoff; not much financial support was pledged for the world's poorest and most of the leaders of the rich countries are still leaning towards protectionism. When it suits and profits them, they world's wealthy countries very much promote and emphasize 'free trade' and when they feel threatened, they revert to protectionism and nationalism. Still, only time will tell how much they have achieved in London.
